The Carlisle Borough Co-Responder Program is designed to increase early identification and intervention for individuals who face challenges such as mental illness, substance abuse disorder, homelessness, financial instability, or other concerns for which assistance is needed.
When a Borough staff member comes into contact with someone in need of assistance, a co-responder is notified. The co-responder contacts the individual in need and identifies community resources that may meet those needs. The co-responder serves as an advocate for the individual in need and identifies community resources that may meet those needs. The co-responder serves as an advocate for the individual and assists by ensuring access to and connection with those resources.
The co-responder works to help prevent/avoid future challenges, such as encounters with law enforcement, hospitalization, or homelessness, by helping to facilitate next steps of care.
